EVAS SRM READING SYSTEM
EVAS SRM - Scanning ● Reading ● Magnification Manufactured and designed by EVAS, the Scan-Read-Magnify System provides access to documents, books, newspapers, magazines and much more for people who are blind or have low vision. EVAS has provided assistive technology for people with disabilities since 1979 and is a pioneer in computer-based assistive technology solutions. EVAS’ goal in designing the SRM was to create a feature-rich system at an exceptional price using its experience and manufacturing capabilities. The system’s Read, Read and View, and Magnification and Viewing Modes provide a wide range of features for the advanced user; while its Quick Read Mode lets you scan and read material by pressing one key. The SRM Help Key gives an audio description of each key’s function allowing you to learn how to use the system. Material may be scanned or imported into the SRM for reading or viewing.
By connecting a monitor to the EVAS SRM you change the read only configuration to a read and magnify configuration. You can purchase a 22” Wide Screen LCD Monitor with the system or add your own monitor. The Read and View Mode displays, magnifies and reads scanned or saved material, or books from the Project Gutenberg EBooks supplied with the system. The Magnification and Viewing Mode allows you to scan and magnify text, pictures or handwriting. You can select image size, background and foreground colors. You can display text in four viewing options; Full Screen, Wrapped Text, Marquee View or Word Flash View. This is a valuable feature when reading books.
Saving and Loading of Documents
The ReadAnywhere has an intuitive file management system to allow the saving and loading of documents. When a document is saved, a sound file is recorded, and the user names it by using the built-in microphone.
